About

I'm Vusal, a software developer from Azerbaijan. I work remotely, and for now I'm based in Hanoi while I travel around Southeast Asia.

Diary From the Road is where I write down what that actually looks like: where I go, how I get around, what things cost, and what I'm building alongside my job.

I'm not doing this on a big budget. I earn an ordinary remote salary, and part of the point is to find out how far it goes: which places work, what a month really costs, and where the money goes.

Expect posts about:

  • travelling and living in different parts of Southeast Asia
  • spending breakdowns and the real cost of living
  • exploring by motorcycle
  • working remotely while moving around
  • the software and small projects I'm building to earn something beyond my salary, including the ones that don't work out

Some posts will be practical. Others will just be about the experience. I'd rather write things down as they happen, numbers and loose ends included, than wait until everything looks tidy.

If you want to say hello, my contact page has the links.
